August 14, 2025, marks a pivotal development in Israeli Data Protection Law, with Amendment No. 13 to the Privacy Protection Law taking effect. The Amendment introduces sweeping reforms, including the mandatory appointment of Data Protection Officers (DPOs), a new regulatory framework for database management, and the imposition of significant administrative fines.
Over the past year, Naschitz Brandes Amir’s IT & Data Protection practice team has worked closely with clients to prepare for these changes, providing strategic advice, developing practical compliance tools, and delivering targeted training to both our clients and our in-house teams.
In light of this milestone, we are pleased to share the latest edition of our practical guide to Amendment No. 13, which incorporates recent guidance from the Privacy Protection Authority on DPO appointments and preliminary opinions, and is designed to help organizations assess their readiness and close any compliance gaps. The Hebrew-language guide is available here.
To further support organizations in their preparations, we have also developed a short online survey addressing database registration/notification requirements and DPO appointments, enabling organizations to perform a preliminary self-assessment, provided for general informational purposes only and not as legal advice.
